Ho Chi Minh City's Historic Colonial Zoo
Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden (Thảo Cầm Viên) is Vietnam's oldest and most historically significant zoo, established in 1865 during the French colonial era — making it one of the oldest zoological gardens in Asia. Located in District 1, the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, it covers 33 hectares and houses over 1,000 animals from 140 species alongside one of Vietnam's finest collections of tropical botanical specimens.
