Popularidad
South America's largest theme park by land area, one of the top tourist destinations in Brazil with over 2 million annual visitors.
South America's Largest Theme Park
Beto Carrero World is the largest theme park in South America by land area, located in Penha, Santa Catarina, on Brazil's southern coast. Named after its founder, the Brazilian entertainer and rodeo champion Beto Carrero, the park opened in 1991 and covers an extraordinary 3.5 million square metres — making it one of the largest theme parks in the world.
Scale & Setting
The park's sheer scale is difficult to comprehend — at 3.5 km², it is comparable in size to some of the world's biggest theme park complexes. Set against a backdrop of the Atlantic coast and lush subtropical vegetation, the park's natural setting is among the most beautiful of any theme park in the Americas.
Themed Worlds
Beto Carrero World is divided into multiple themed areas:
- Mundo Fantástico – classic fairy tale and fantasy themes for families
- Wild West – American frontier-themed land with cowboy shows
- África – African safari-themed zone with live animals
- Medieval – knights, castles, and jousting tournaments
- Cartoon Network World – officially licensed zone featuring Ben 10, Adventure Time, and other Cartoon Network characters
- Porto Medieval – waterfront medieval harbour experience
Thrill Rides & Shows
The park features over 40 attractions including multiple roller coasters, water rides, a suspended monorail, and live animal shows. Headline attractions include Steel Hawk — one of the tallest free-fall towers in South America — and several high-speed coasters.
Live shows are a major part of the Beto Carrero experience, with theatrical productions, stunt shows, and character parades running throughout the day.
Wild Animal Exhibits
Unusually for a theme park, Beto Carrero World maintains an extensive collection of live animals as part of its African and wildlife-themed sections, including lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, and bears. This blurs the line between theme park and zoo, making it a uniquely comprehensive family destination.
