Africa's Oldest Zoo
Giza Zoological Garden (Cairo Zoo) is Africa's oldest zoo and one of the world's most historically significant zoological gardens, established in 1891 during the Khedivial era in Giza. Covering 80 hectares on the west bank of the Nile, it is home to over 6,000 animals from more than 400 species and draws around 3 million visitors annually — making it one of Africa's most visited zoos.
