Africa's Largest Zoo
The National Zoological Garden of South Africa in Pretoria is the largest zoo in Africa by area and one of the most important zoological institutions on the continent. Spanning 85 hectares of the Apies River valley in the heart of South Africa's capital city, it is home to over 9,000 animals from 700 species — one of the most diverse animal collections in the Southern Hemisphere.
