Populariteit
The world's first and only biblical theme park, a uniquely Argentine institution on the Buenos Aires waterfront since 1999.
The World's First Biblical Theme Park
Tierra Santa (Holy Land) is one of the most unique theme parks in the world — the first park in history dedicated entirely to biblical and Christian themes, located along the Costanera Norte waterfront in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Opened in 1999, it occupies a spectacular position on the banks of the Río de la Plata with views across the vast estuary.
A One-of-a-Kind Concept
There is no theme park quite like Tierra Santa anywhere else in the world. The park recreates scenes and settings from the life of Jesus Christ and from the Old Testament in large-scale, walk-through dioramas and theatrical sets. The entire park is designed as an immersive recreation of the Holy Land in the time of Christ.
Key Attractions
- The Resurrection — the park's centrepiece and most famous spectacle: a 15-metre-high statue of Christ rising from a mountain, performed every hour with dramatic music and lighting
- Bethlehem — a full-scale recreation of the birth village of Jesus, with the Nativity scene and surrounding town
- Jerusalem — recreated streets and buildings of biblical Jerusalem
- The Last Supper — a life-size diorama of the final meal of Jesus
- The Crucifixion — a theatrical representation of the Passion of Christ
- The Garden of Eden — Old Testament scenes with animatronic figures
- Live performances — actors portraying biblical figures throughout the park
A Buenos Aires Institution
Despite — or perhaps because of — its highly unusual concept, Tierra Santa has become a genuine Buenos Aires landmark. In a country that is overwhelmingly Catholic, the park resonates deeply with the faith of many Argentine visitors. It also draws curious tourists from around the world who come simply for the extraordinary novelty of the experience.
Waterfront Location
The park's location on the Costanera Norte, beside the wide Río de la Plata, gives it a striking setting. The waterfront promenade outside the park is popular with Buenos Aires joggers and families, and the combination of riverside walk and theme park makes for a distinctive Buenos Aires outing.
