The zoo is embedded within the Atatürk Orman Çiftliği — a 17,000-hectare agricultural estate and recreational forest created by Atatürk to demonstrate modern farming and provide green space for Ankara's residents. The farm includes a brewery, stud farm, dairy, and orchard alongside the zoo, making it a unique combination of history, agriculture and wildlife.
